Heart To Heart

I had a stroke in 2012 and I have aphasia.

I discovered Heart to Heart by Marc Black when searching for some information on aphasia. I watched this video and thought………“Wow! That’s me! THAT’S ME!!! It describes me PERFECTLY!”(as well as other aphasia survivors). The video and song are effective, compelling and powerful! It really captures what it is like to experience aphasia.
It is an important reminder that aphasia doesn’t affect your intellect.
I struggle to communicate sometimes. I have all the words and ideas in my head, but I can’t get them out. It is like my brain and my mouth are on two different pathways. Being part of a community of people who understand aphasia and finding songs like Heart to Heart encourages me to be courageous and keep spreading awareness about aphasia.
Aphasia is a “misunderstood” communication disorder! It is very common, yet most people have never heard of it. I had not heard of aphasia before my stroke. I think there needs to be more awareness about aphasia because it affects so many people. Everyone should hear this song: family/friends of people with aphasia, healthcare workers, business workers, just EVERYONE.

If you know of any other songs/videos about aphasia, please write them in the comments.
